Civil infrastructure such as power plants, railway systems, and transportation is vital for human life. The trends of Industrial IoT (IIoT) is booming, it brings the risks of cybersecurity breach into civil infrastructure. For example, the nuclear station in India, and a power plant in South Africa were faced with cyber attacks.
Therefore, the Linux foundation project - Civil Infrastructure Platform created a security workgroup. This workgroup aims to conform ISA / IEC 62443 standard on civil infrastructure platform via collaboration across the companies for building up a secure and robust platform. The current participant companies in this workgroup are Cybertrust, Moxa, Renesas, Siemens, and Toshiba.
In this presentation, SZ Lin will share how this workgroup works and collaborate on ISA / IEC 62443 via open source software. The presentation will go over it as well as the next steps and plans.
CISSP-ISSAP, CSSLP, Debian Developer, and the first ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Expert in Taiwan.
SZ Lin currently works for Moxa in the Innovation R&D Center, and his team helps develop industrial-grade Linux distribution to adapt to the various Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) products. He is the technical steering committee member and the chairperson of Linux kernel workgroup in the Linux foundation project - Civil Infrastructure Platform, and he collaborates with the developers from international companies to build up an open source “base layer” of industrial grade software.
He has a US patent in the security domain, and he is also a Debian developer. Being a Debian developer, he contributes to the security package team for a long period of time.
SZ has a great deal of experience in technical presentation, such as Industrial Control System Cyber security Conference Singapore, Embedded Linux Conference, Embedded Linux Conference Europe, Open Source Summit Japan, Open Source Summit China.
