For decades the cybersecurity approach for manufacturing industry was focused on strict and closed physical environment control to achieve comprehensive protection. However, with the development of smart manufacturing applications and evolution of attack mechanisms, traditional approaches may not be able to solve all the problems, and will hinder the adoption of innovative technologies such as AIoT. Zero Trust is one of the new countermeasures that has been proposed recently to achieve effective protection and co-work with smart technologies. In this speech, we will outline the complete solutions to realize Zero Trust cybersecurity protection, and provide the practical examples for smart manufacturing applications.
