Chunghwa Telecom was founded in 1996 as part of Taiwanese government's privatization efforts. Its three major businesses are: Fixed-line Network, Mobile Communications, and Data Communications. It is the largest and the most experienced Telecommunication Service Provider in Taiwan.
Due to increasing number of cyber-attacks in Taiwan, Chunghwa established HiNet Security Operation Center (SOC) in 2003, and leverages network and cloud technologies to provide cyber security services from network side. Learning from the experience dealing with largescale hacker activities, HiNet SOC can effectively defend cyber-attacks against enterprises and government in Taiwan.
 
Moreover, Chunghwa’s Telecommunication Laboratory has long-term research and development experience of cyber security technologies, such as Identity and Access Management, and Privacy Protection Act-related products. Also, Chunghwa is able to provide Cyber Security Consulting Services and solutions helping customers complied with information security policies and laws.
 In 2017, Chunghwa Telecom founded an independent subsidiary – CHT Security Co., Ltd. Its main businesses are: network security, security monitoring (SOC), security assessment, digital forensic, incident response… etc. Also, it has passed ISO 20000 and 27001 certifications, awarded Information Security Quality Elite Award by BSI Group, won Champion of HITCON Defense Contest, and 2018 Information Security Penetration Testing Attack and Defense Contest.
